The Island Game: Highlights of Roosevelt Island - Outdoor Exploration Game

Get ready to play a game that takes you through New York’s secret-filled island and discover why Roosevelt Island is considered architecturally, historically, and culturally significant by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission.

You’ll learn about the island’s Dutch past and how it later went from a Welfare Island to a Lunatic Asylum to what it is today, a thriving community, as you find out how the past speaks to the present and future.

What will you do?

• Find out what happened to the old Asylum

• Discover the ruins of the Smallpox Hospital

• Learn the story behind the fifty-foot-high Lighthouse.

• Explore the sixth oldest farmhouse in New York City.

• Uncover the first laboratory dedicated to pathological and bacteriological research.

What is the duration of the activity?

It will take you between 1 to 1.5 hours to complete and you can also explore at your own pace: pause the game and resume anytime from the location where you paused it.

As you solve challenges, the story unfolds and exact directions on your phone will guide you to the next location.

How do you play?

After payment you will receive an email with instructions on how to download and play the game on your phone. You can play on your own, in a large group or in several smaller groups that compete against each other and meet at the final stop of the game. We recommend that each user purchases a ticket for an optimal experience, although several people can share a phone.
